1. Entrance to Rocky Mountain national Park.
2. Ornithology at it's best - Steller's Jay positively identified.
3. Elk positively identified.
4. Top of Mnt. Long (about 1400ft above sea level)
5. Colorado has recorded record snowfalls of over 50ft
The reason for our choice here is it's close proximity to the Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP)
Our tent is now officially DEAD!! Thank God. We somehow managed to rip it. Suppose it's not a bad thing and Peter took great delight in cutting it up. We have now bought another tent which we splashed the cash on and which we will be sending home once we are done with it here. Our lesson learnt - Don't buy crap - go through the initial expense.
The RMNP was a little strange - not in a bad way. Obviously I compare everything to the Kruger.
Here you can get out of your car wherever you want, you can try and get as close as you can to the animals to take pictures (they are wild though!) Qiun you would love it because you could stalk them - Quagga. Not too much of a variety of animals but we have started our mammals and Bird Lists (I'm such a geek!!!)
We went to the highest point in RMNP which is called Mount Long about 14,000ft, we had to walk through snow to get to the view point - breathtakingly beautiful.
